I was curious to get some opinions on what the various levels of attires are (white tie, semi-formal etc.) and how that has changed over time. The following link lists several levels of formality for dressing and explains them, however it seems to be a more modern interpretation and it mentions Semi-Formal as suit and tie. However, as I understand, some interpretations of semi-formal actually means one step under white-tie, which would be black-tie or full tuxedo. Perhaps someone can shed some light on all this and how levels of dress attire have evolved.
