Spectator shoes can be beautiful or gauche. I've long fantasized of owning a pair. But sanity has prevailed, aided by the fact the most, or at least most of the attractive versions, feature a light colored, commonly white leather with another darker shade. For me, these are summer shoes. And it's much easier to convince myself not to splurge on footwear that is so pigeon-holed. But my season, and the mode which occupies most of my imaginings is autumn and the cooler time of year. So I have permitted myself to imagine the perfect spectator for the season; it would consist mid-brown leathers, preferably one suede, in harmonious combination, but with less tonal contrast. Unfortunately, I'm now reminded that Edward Green makes such a shoe, and a stunner it is, in all its impractical, unaffordable glory!
