I learned today of students in Florida State University's Entrepreneurship program who identified a need at homeless shelters and built a business around that. They sell designer socks and for each pair purchased, they donate one pair of socks to a homeless shelter. There is a counter of current sock donations on the website.

I generally find such things gimmicky and, sometimes, off-putting, but as gimmicks go, this seems pretty benign and, possibly, a good thing I wouldn't mind supporting.
I haven't purchased any of their products, yet, but some look interesting. I am wary of crew-height socks as I usually find them annoyingly short (especially for scooter riding) and difficult to keep up. Not much selection in OTC for men. Might give them a try, though.
I think these are cool:

I thought members of our little collective might find them of interest. If anyone makes a purchase before me, do post a review.
Oh, I have no connection with the company or the students other than a common academic institution.
