Could use your assistance in hopefully refraining from spending a large sum of money. I purchased the last pair of Peal cordovan #8 boots in my size with my 40% coupon, bringing them to a still outrageous but not laughable $650. I like the boot in principle - have not yet seen them in the flesh/hide - but I'm trying to determine when I'd wear them.
My workplace is business casual (shirt, wool pants), but I also travel for work so tend to wear loafers during the week. I rarely require a suit. My weekend casual is jeans or chinos. I wonder if a high pair of boots would look odd in business casual - or draw comment. I've never worn dress boots nor really seen others do so (though I know there are at least 3 diehards on this forum!).
Meanwhile, $650 for a pair of casual boots with jeans seems silly, especially after just buying a pair of C&J rough out chukkas.
Owners of these or similar: your thoughts? Keep in mind that should I return them, I can keep the Peal cordovan brogues I also bought!
