I wonder if anyone's read the book reviewed here: http://ift.tt/1UhQoKp. The reviewer writes, "The War changed women's attitudes toward clothing. Proust has one of his characters [I don't know which one; I've never gotten that far -- TN] say that it's no longer a matter of parading around in a dress made by a great couturier, but rather of obtaining 'charming results in the realm of fashion, without ill-considered and unseemly luxury..." Apparently this new biography is unsparing about the degree of Chanel's collaboration.
