As a Catholic seminarian who is soon to be ordained, we talk about wearing our clericals and our "civilian" attire. I spoke with Andy directly about how I tended to dress up all my life prior to seminary because of parental influence, and now my clericals are going to become my dress attire; but my post really does not pertain to that subject. My post has to do with dressing age appropriately when in civilian clothing. A lot of folks think I am at least 10 years, if not even younger than I really am; and they are shocked when I say I am 38 years old. I do receive comments about my youthful face, yet a lot of the comments are about the way I dress. When visiting family, I get comments about dressing like a "college kid" instead of a more mature man. I like dressing relaxed (T-shirts, jeans, casual sweaters, hoodies, sneakers, etc.) as much as I can when I don't have to dress up, but I'm starting to think my casual wardrobe might not actually match my age. It might be time to make that transition into a more mature look. Does anyone have suggestions as to what a more age appropriate casual attire might be for a 38 year old man who wants to dress relaxed yet not come across as a "college kid"?
