Brooks Brothers Suit Fitting Question

lundi 7 septembre 2015

He guys,

I getting ready to start looking to replace my Burberry suit that became moth food.

I really like the Brooks Brothers 1818 Madison suits but have a question that I'm sure the knowledgeable folks here can better answer...

In suits, blazers, etc. I'm always a 44R. Even my newest blazer, a Brooks Brothers 1818 Madison, is that size as well. My actual chest physically measures 44" also so the fit is typically perfect. Usually the jacket just needs the collar lowered and the sleeves finished. My dilemma comes with the suit pants....

In BB chinos, most jeans and my Zanilla dress slacks, I'm a marked size 36. I measured the actual physical waist of my Burberry suit and it physically measures exactly 38". It was marked on the original flasher as a 44R 38W but it was taken in at one point slightly so I'm assuming it originally measured 39 physical inches..

I can't find accurate drop information for this particular suit and want to know what I'm looking for before I go to the store. Their selection is somewhat limited in they have mostly Madison, some Fitzgerald and a handful of Milano. They do not stock Regent as they told me they just didn't sell and fit Most folks.

Can the Madison pants be altered down to fit me without looking goofy? If so, will that preclude any future alterations entirely or will something minor like 1/2" still be available?
