Winter coats (that aren't for skiing or climbing)

I have grown up in a mountain town my whole like and consequently my winter outerwear wardrobe consists down, synthetic down and gore tex. I'd like to diversify my coats by adding some that are better suited for city life.

I'm totally clueless here and I'm looking for a rundown on what the options are and what situations they are good for.
