I hope this comes across in the lighthearted manner of which I intend.
About a year ago I went a few weeks without shaving. My wife's response was such that I haven't been clean shaven since. I actually prefer the feel of being clean shaven, but if she's happy, I'm happy. I also get more compliments on having the beard than I ever have with any other decision regarding my appearance (that might say more about my appearance than the positive aspect of the beard, but I digress).
She also prompted me to invest in more denim. I was trying on some shoes (AE similar to Strand which now RIP thanks to my sister's dog who thought they were his personal chew toys) and had jeans on and she commented that she really liked that look. Again, if she likes it then I won't argue but will play along.
Those two subjects seem to be hot items on this forum. Since this is only my third post, I'm sticking my neck out to bring up such divisive topics, but I'm risky like that. ;)
My question is rather vague, but why is this - why are facial hair and denim two of the more divisive topics in a fashion forum? Have I just not read enough on the forums to understand? Is it regional (I'm in the Texas Hill Country)? Is it generational (I'm 45 in two weeks)?
Aside from that, I'm really enjoying reading and learning from so many class acts. Happy to be here to learn from others.
