So, I bought my first suit off of eBay. New Canali - got it for a decent price. I wouldn't say a steal at just under $700, but certainly far less than what they retail for at Neiman. Definitely legit, and fit is good with the usual adjustments. Except....the jacket is too long. What I hate about eBay is that most merchants give the length, but never specify if it is overall or collar to bottom. I know collar to bottom is the most common, but hen you see what you think is right for you but with 1.5" added, I think you want to assume they must have given overall length.
This jacket is 1-1.25 inches too long for me. Now, I know (thanks to other threads and the wisdom here!) that I can have it shortened an inch, likely without affecting the "balance" and pockets.
The question is, am I forsaking quality of the suit by making wholesale adjustments like this? (if I can find a tailor to do so - I have a track on a local "seamstress" who is apparently very good) Or, should I just return it and shop on? (It is a two-button, and I have read that some indicate the curved bottom to be trickier than a square double-breasted)
Any thoughts and advice appreciated.

advice on altering suit jacket length - when is it worth it?
