This is a repost of a post I made on, I think, the fashion forum:
I've been fascinated with long-rise pants for some time now, but purely for aesthetic reasons, as I'm 5'6" and don't need them to prevent binding issues.
Just now, I searched this (Trad) forum for titles containing "long rise" to see if anyone else commented on this aesthetic dimension, but all of the posts I saw seem to come from taller guys who need the pants simply to avoid pain.
My question: do any of you know if there ever has been an aesthetic preference for long-rise pants? For instance check out this guy:
While he may be tall, does he really need such a long rise with such slim pants, except for some aesthetic reason (or, of course, for the sake of tradition)?
