My most recent pair of Weejuns has worn out and they appear to no longer be making any reasonable looking half strap in dark brown (they do have one available but the soles are way too thin looking for my taste). So I figured that is a sign from the universe that it is time for an upgrade.
I'm planning to go the Rancourt route, but their "stock" loafers are in chromexcel. I'm more familiar with that leather for boat shoes, camp mocs, etc. Not sure how well it applies for a classic penny loafer. Would calf be more versatile/appropriate?
