One of my favourite members of the animal kingdom is the male Bowerbird. This delightfully unique creature exhibits characteristics of both architect and artist in his courtship of the female. He vigorously maintains and jealously guards his bower, which he adorns with a variety of pretty objects selected, collected and arranged to display his suitability as a mate. The behavioural complexity of this little fellow is unparalleled within his genus (indeed, he would seem to have achieved a grasp of forced perspective) and his devotion to his valued possessions, the relentless drive to acquire and expand his hoard, is most charming to observe.
All of this said I am by temperament something of a minimalist myself, preferring a small, well used, assortment of versatile raiment. This is, of course, a rather arbitrary judgement and I wonder where others amongst our band of menswear hobbyists may define their parameters - how much is too much?
