Last winter, when I began working at an office in New York, the need became apparent for a pair of footwear that could manage equally well negotiating a snow bank versus sitting in an office meeting. My chukka boots have not fared as well as I might have hoped for the former task, when snow as able to fall in through the top, so I am shopping for a pair of higher boots.
I have never owned any boots higher than said chukkas. I tend to think that nine-eyelet pieces offer adequate height, but I am torn on the choice of material of cordovan versus calf.
