I want to commission a black & white herringbone, peak-lapel, single-breasted tweed jacket. English cut: hard structured jacket with waist suppression. My budget is $1,000.
So I know what I want, I just don't know how to accomplish it.
I live in Dallas. From my research, there are no tailors here that get good reviews except Chris Despos, and I have no idea whether his house style has any resemblance to what I want or whether he'd have any interest in the project in any case at my budget.
I own an MTM suit where the jacket fits magnificently, but I don't trust myself to accurately measure it to send the measurements to a far-off MTM house.
Even if I had measurements ready to send, I wouldn't know who to send them to. Bookster seemed perfect, but then I read about them going out of and then back in business and was scared off.
Would any of you fine gents be willing to offer some advice on where to go from here? Specifically (1) how to get myself or my existing MTM jacket accurately measured and then (2) where to go for the jacket?
