I am finding on a number of occasions that for a given last, I can wear a larger size in a blucher, but have to go down one size for a balmoral. I think this is because I prefer a roomier fit for comfort, and a blucher can accommodate this because the open lace structure gives me more leeway to tighten up the shoe, whereas in a balmoral I have to go snug because the closed lace doesn't allow for much adjustment at all. I typically wear an 8.5 in bluchers, but need to go down to 8 in balmorals to stop my heels from slipping around too much.
It seem that for most people who wear different sizes on the same last, they go the opposite direction. If they typically wear an 8.5 in a blucher, they need to go up to a 9.0 in a balmoral because the 8.5 chokes their feet.
Does this mean that I am probably wearing my bluchers incorrectly? Am I overcompensating a loose fit by tightening the laces too far? Or are there other people who upsize on bluchers and downsize on balmorals on the same last?
Do you wear different sizes in a balmoral vs blucher on the same last?
