Yes, I do wear patent shoes with evening dress... but I just saw these EVENING SHOELACES offered for sale, in satin, grosgrain or velvet (to match tie and lapel facings). They even have silver aglets on the laces to match cuff links.
Even I, pedantic fusspot that I am, could not wear these laces!
