Remember Men's Shops?

I suspect before that question is answered, I need to explain what a real men's shop is/was because I think that many here may have never encountered one. Let's start with what it's not: It's not Jos A. Bunk, Men's Slumhouse or any other grandiose "marketing concept" fueled by too much money and too little knowledge, and staffed by young, near minimum wage workers who need a few bucks until they can find a real job. It's invariably privately owned, and staffed by those who not only know their stock, but how that stock differs from similar stock they were selling 20 years ago; and why any particular item thereof might be better or worse for client A than client B. And they don't sell schlock.

I've found rumors here and elsewhere that hidden about the country there are recalcitrant remnants of such treasured institutions which survive and should be nurtured. But the best remaining version with which I'm familiar is O'Connell's that traditional bastion of quality. For the rest of nation, the scene more closely resembles this -
