The purpose of this post is to understand if either I am overly scrutinous or if my new pair of Alden Short Wing Blucher Boots (Shell #8) are of poor quality. They are exhibiting two issues that I have not encountered with my 2 year old Alden PTBs Shell #8s.
1. Inconsistent (horizontal) distance from edge of upper to edge of sole. This is shown by the two photos below. The inner sole sticks out very far, so much so that the shoes almost seem like flippers. The sole towards the back of the shoe sticks out much less, and is inline with that of my PTBs.
2. The cordovan finish seems to be "flaking" off.
What is your opinion of these issues? They were purchased from The Shoe Mart and I have yet to bring it to their attention. I also purchased my PTBs from The Shoe Mart and was thoroughly pleased with the quality of the shoes.
