Suede loafer question

I just received the pair of AE Cavanughs in snuff suede (basically a medium brown) that I ordered last week. I always felt that suede was more of a fall/winter material (with cautions taken during ice and snow). When I did some internet browsing, several sites stated that suede loafers are more of a spring/summer material. I could understand that if the suede was beige or tan, but I picture myself wearing a brown suede with cords, khakis, jeans, etc., in the fall and winter.

I'll appreciate any thoughts. I don't want to risk getting arrested by the fashion police. I've already received a citation for wearing my stainless steel Rolex Submariner with a suit!
