Hello gents,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Have a quick question about a recently acquired Borrelli shirt, which is labeled as size 17 / 43. Believe it is of their "slim" line, although I see no clear labeling to indicate so; the tag has a white background with green Borrelli lettering.
This was my first foray into Italian-branded shirts and the Borrelli shirt runs extremely small compared to other RTW brands I've purchased before, mainly English ones such as T&A and Thomas Pink, in which I wear a size 17 Slim w/ ~35/36 sleeves, but usually still have to get the shirts darted to take in the waist. The Borrelli collar to me feels something like along the lines of a 15.5 - 16 and the sleeves a ~32/33... However, the waist/length is pretty spot on, which brings me to my question:
Are all Borrelli shirts similar in proportions, meaning that I would need to significantly size up in the tagged size (to something like an 18) to get the sleeves / neck size I need, but then would be left with a much larger waist/length? Or do they offer a "standard fit" (or whatever Borrelli calls them) shirts that are sized more along the lines of what I am used to in English brands such as T&A? Hopefully the question makes sense.
It's a real shame because the shirt is beautifully made and I can see what all the hype is about with Borrelli. The fabric, and especially the collar roll is in my opinion much nicer relative to the T&A shirts I have.
Also, are any of the other Italian brands such as Barba / Finamore / Kiton, etc. more generous in the sleeve length and collar? I'm 6'2" with an athletic build (bigger shoulders/back and a slim waist) so perhaps some of these brands just won't work, which is a shame because I am definitely a fan based on the Borrelli shirt I received.
Thank you in advance.
