My wife and I went on a date the other day, the first one in over a year due to a baby. It was quite nice. We wondered around the Namdaemun market, checked out a bunch of shops, and ate some good food. It is a busy, but neat place to check out. One of the many large markets in Korea. From a distance, I saw the Shinsegae building and ask my wife if she wanted to check it out. Shinsegae is a large high-end department store. As we made our way up the many floors of this building, we can across the mens dress shoe department of the store (7th floor if you are wondering). Talk about a pleasant surprise! It was a shoe lovers paradise. Trickers, Church's, Loake, Edward Green, Yanko (Kind of disappointed there was no Carmina, Enzo, or Meermin representation, but on the same hand, I have been wanting to see Yanko in person.) I think there was St. Crispin and Gaziano and Girling, but I don't quite remember. I know I am leaving out a couple more good brands. They also have a local company called Tandy. Don't know much about their shoes, but they looked decent. There were so many good looking, well constructed shoes that it was a lot to take in. I am used to going to department stores and seeing mostly cheap expensive shoes so this was a great thing to see. To top it all off, right next to the shoe department was a shoe repair shop. On top of all the services you look for in a good shoe repair shop, they also carried Saphir products. I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked (I was on an overdue date with the wife) but it was great to see so many good looking shoes in one shop. If you are ever in seoul, you should check it out.
A pleasant surprise at the Shinsegae Department store
