Expensive, or just crazy stupid? Frankly, I find such pricing offensive!
To any familiar with Madras shirts during their hey day, they were made with colorful cloth imported from India. This cloth had a number of properties; it was loosely, and usually hand woven, and contained many irregularities, and it was not dye fast so that the colors would run together when laundered (Bleed.) in a manner thought very appealing. And most relevantly, it was cheap, cheap, cheap!
Such shirts have mostly been long gone from the scene. Well, they're back . . . . sort of. But since they're going to be sold to neo-traditionalists, who are mostly too young to remember the originals, they're being priced at $175.00 a piece! While this target market may less well informed, it is certainly not less well resourced, so if any wish to pay $175.00 for a nice $45 shirt this tells you where -
