Hi,
A little information about me. I'm 35 years old, live in Oslo and work as an engineering consultant. I don't own any sport jackets and never wear a suit except on very formal occasions (weddings, etc.).
As I would like to start wearing more classic clothes I'm treating myself to a bespoke sport jacket. I would like to wear it at work, in the city and maybe a night out on town. Preferably during the colder months from sep-may. For trousers I mostly use chinos, flannel and jeans. Stylewise I'm pretty set with what I want; 2 buttons (or 3-roll-2), medium wide notch lapels, soft shoulder and patch pockets. I was looking to get some depth to the fabric so I have been pondering hopsack, fresco and tweed (herringbone, barleycorn).
As for color, initially I thought that I would get a mid blue/light navy jacket but browsing the web a gray one seems even more casual and easier for me to wear. My concern with navy is that it might look to formal, and since I'm not used to wearing sportjackets at all it might feel awkward. The tailor has sent me some information about available cloth, and I must say the choices are pretty overwhelming. Now brown also look really stellar.
And then there is the weight issue. I've been looking at some herringbone at 16oz but I have no clear understanding at what that means. From the same producer there's also some tweeds at only 10oz. What will be the real difference here, will a 16 oz jacket feel like armor?
Also been thinking about getting matching trousers to pose as suit for the few times I need it. But worried that hopsack might look weird as pants? How's the durability?
Thanks
