I am looking for advice on caring for shell cordovan shoes. I have been looking for a suitable polish, but have come across what appears to be conflicting advice.
A number of sources recommend primarily using Saphir Renovateur, which looks promising. Other sources (most notably, Alden of Carmel), however, specifically warn against the use of "neutral" polish, of which Renovateur appears to be a member. In trying to decipher the rationale behind this proscription, one site (thesimplyrefined.com) states that it will "cover the natural luster of the cordovan." Hence my dilemma.
Can anyone with experience in such matters enlighten me as to this paradox?
