For a variety of reasons, I feel fortunate to live in the Buffalo, NY area. One of those reasons, of course, is having relatively easy access to O'Connell's. I will be heading there in the next few days to purchase a navy jacket to replace a worn out, hand-me-down navy blazer.
As a high school teacher, wearing a sport coat to work makes me a bit unusual among my colleagues. However, I feel that dressing in this manner is important. It also makes me happy! I have not always felt this way, but over the last five years or so I have been trying to dress in a more professional manner. As funds have become available, I have enjoyed trips to O'Connell's to select one or two of their treasures to add to my wardrobe.

However, I am really intrigued by O'Connell's doeskin blazer. I tried it on last time I was there and really loved it. In particular, I enjoyed how soft and cozy the fabric was.

Both of the O'Connell's blazers linked above are in the $500 range. To me, this seems like quite a fair price. However, with the current sale, for $100 more I could buy a Southwick blazer.

I am far from a clothing expert, but to me the description on the website, I don't see a lot of differences between the O'Connell's blazers and the Southwick. I am curious what, if anything, would cause the Southwick to be worth the extra $100. Is the fabric that different? The fit? Or is the difference simply a name brand vs. store brand issue?
I am not opposed to spending money for quality. My goal is simply to get the best value for my money. Given that, are the jackets linked above head and shoulders better than the Anderson-Little Classic Blue Blazer?
I'd love to hear suggestions on which jacket would work best for me - and why.
