Cambridge Gray Suit...what color shoes?

I added a Hardy Minnis Cambridge gray suit to my wardrobe this summer. I already have a Navy suit. I'm looking for a shoe that can be worn with both fairly easily.

I originally purchased Allen Edmonds Strand in oxblood -- but exchanged them for a walnut color instead. I was told that oxblood really isn't as universal as a shade of brown, such as the walnut color also available with the Strand shoe. I wonder if this is sound advice.

I own a pair of oxfords in oxblood but was looking to replace them as they are old and sort of worn out. (They were my first pair of dress shoes and suffered through my neglect and ignorance of proper polishing techniques.)

Any advice on what shade of shoe color would be more prudent would be most welcome.
