Suit Jacket Sleeves with Cuffs

dimanche 6 septembre 2015

I'm designing a custom suit with Brooks Brothers that is inspired by one of Nucky Thompson's suits from Boardwalk Empire. Brooks Brothers tells me they can make the cuff as one of the last steps with their in-store tailor. However, I think they are just winging it. They said they will take material from the bottom of the pants and sew it onto the cuff. This doesn't seem like the right way to do it. I told them so, and then they said we can make the sleeves a little longer and fold them back, which does sound correct.

Does anybody have any source material that shows the right way to do this. Here are a couple of reference photos. Also, I want to have working buttons along with the cuffs. They are described as "Edwardian-style cuffed sleeves (1-inch cuff)".
